Whether it’s a personal training session or a group class, your enjoyment and results all come down to the instruction you receive.  Our team of trainers have the qualifications and experience to instruct Pilates at all levels.  But to be effective they also have the ability to impart that information to participants in a positive and fun way.  All trainers at Mooloolaba studio are friendly and really care about your health and fitness goals.


Julianne Smith

Julianne is one of the Founders and Directors of Advantage Pilate, established back in 2012.

She started in the fitness industry over 45 years ago in Mount Isa where she owned and managed one of the first fitness clubs in the area.

Arriving on the Sunshine Coast in 1990 her passion was group fitness, but wanting more interaction and knowledge, she studied to become a Personal Trainer.

In 2000 she embraced the Pilates Legacy and now instructs in both mat and equipment based sessions. Julianne works with her participants using Pilates to aid functional rehabilitation, improve muscle imbalances, pre & post pregnancy assistance, improve sport performance and to enhance everyday movement.

As both a mother and grandmother Julianne understands the importance of health and fitness for all age groups.

Annie joined Julianne Smith (no relation) as a director of Advantage Pilates in January 2015.

As one of the first group trainers registered in NSW Annie has spent nearly 50 years in the fitness industry.  Fitness was a new industry back then she originally started out mainly taking group exercise class.  After leaving Sydney for the Sunshine Coast Annie has raised 3 daughters, and is now also a grandmother. She has worked and studied fitness constantly.

Completing a Diploma in Sport and Recreation (fitness) at Sunshine Coast TAFE, prompted a move to Personal Training, working with Julianne in the same fitness centre. Holding a Qualification in Diploma of Fitness as well, has allowed Annie to be registered with Fitness Australia as a Specialist Trainer.

Eighteen years ago she began teaching Fitness at Sunshine Coast TAFE, now TAFE East Coast.  Being a registered Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) allows her to teach these competencies from Certificate 3 level to Diploma Level. Recently retired from TAFE after teaching for 17 Years, Annie now concentrates on Pilates at the studio.

She has just completed Workshop with Professor Robert Shliep on Fascia as a sensory organ and its importance in movement and trauma.

As well as Pilates Annie can instruct in and incorporate techniques from Fascial Fitness, and is passionate about Musculoskeletal rehabilitation (being a competency she taught of TAFE) for those that need this type of help.

Tracy has a wealth of qualifications and areas of expertise within the Health and Fitness industry. She completed her Cert Ill & IV in Fitness at Sunshine Coast TAFE, Mountain Creek. QLD in 2007. In addition to her fitness, Tracy has also completed a Dual Diploma in Sport and Remedial Massage, with Sunshine Coast TAFE.

Tracy is an experienced Personal Trainer and Instructor in Aqua, Boxing, Muay Thai (kickboxing), Group Exercise and Pilates including mat work and clinical equipment.

As a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist, Tracy has worked alongside a variety of professionals at sporting events including the Mooloolaba Triathlon, Noosa Triathlon and Multi Sport, Noosa Enduro, Noosa Century Cycle, and the Maroochydore Kayaking Club.

Here at Advantage Pilates Tracy is one of our Clinical Pilates Instructors and Personal Trainer, specialising in postural awareness, functional rehabilitation, corrective exercises and correcting muscle imbalances. She has a passion within the industry and loves helping people succeed.  Her aim as a professional is to help others achieve their goals and improve their quality of life through health and fitness.

Catherine Burnett

Catherine has completed the Diploma of Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology with Tensegrity Training 2021. Her aim as an evolving Pilates Instructor is to teach Pilates as a total body conditioning for all levels of fitness with a focus on proper form and comprehension. She has been a student of Pilates for the past 12 years, hence her desire to study in the field.

Catherine teach group reformer classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced clients. She assist clients to maintain correct form and technique in the classes with verbal and tactile cues.

She also teaches equipment classes using a mixture of the reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, as well as magic circles, hand weights and the foam roller. Catherine like to use a mixture of traditional exercises as well as introducing new exercises on the equipment each week to keep the classes fun and interesting.

Catherine trained to work with clients that may have injuries, postural ailments, pathologies such as scoliosis, and provide a safe, informative and functional environment for clients to join the pilates classes.

We have an easy step by step process we follow to ensure your safe introduction to Pilates training.  The steps are outlined below:

  • Complete an assessment form to work out your current situation and goals
  • Book into one of our introduction to Pilates classes either online or by calling our studio
  • On your first visit the instructor conducts simple tests to check your fitness level
  • The trainer will also teach you how to breath for maximum performance
  • We will then show you our equipment and explain your training options
  • We recommend you complete three mat work classes before attending any other Pilates sessions to ensure you have solid technique to prevent injury

You are now well on your way to achieving your goals.  You have learnt to breath better, have grounding in Pilates techniques and now ready to move forward to better mobility and fitness.
